[ Jill's training in more detail.]

Jill was born in North Lanarkshire, Scotland and earned her Honours Degree in Biological Sciences at Napier University, Edinburgh in 1985. She began her working life in the field of developmental biology and moved on to the specialised area of pre-clinical toxicology, directing independent studies for Blue Chip companies. Jill was travelling in Chile in 1998 and two events happened that changed the course of her career;

First, Jill fell and badly sprained her ankle. Three days after the injury, with the ankle still very painful, badly swollen and bruised she met a friend and Rolfer, Mr. Sammy Frenk. On seeing Jill's predicament Sammy offered to help. He spent perhaps ten minutes working gently on her ankle, doing apparently nothing much to the naked eye, but he left her utterly speechless. The difference was astonishing. The ankle felt remarkably free and the pressure and restriction at the ankle joint had completely disappeared . Moreover, the ankle could happily weight-bear and Jill could walk with no more than a slight twinge; the ankle was good as new by the end of the day.

The second event was happening back in Scotland whilst Jill travelled: her best friend had suffered a brain trauma and was very seriously ill; she was in a great deal of pain and was partially paralysed down one side of her body. [Click here to read her account.] Having just experienced what the hands of a Rolfer could do, Jill investigated the merits of Rolfing; she consulted with established practitioners and read case studies to establish the possibility of Rolfing helping her friend regain control of her body. Satisfied that Rolfing could offer a real chance to her friend, Jill decided to put her degree in biological sciences and her extensive knowledge of the human body to work as a base for training in Rolfing.

Prior to being accepted onto the course, Jill first received the ten-session series of Structural Integration. She was astonished at the difference the sessions made to her body, particularly since she considered herself fit and healthy.

Jill completed the basic training program in May 2000, undertook regular continuing education workshops and completed her Advanced Training in May 2005. This allowed Jill to attain a deeper level of understanding of Structural Integration itself; it enabled her to not only advance already well-ordered structures but to apply her refined skills to increase the benefits of every client at their individual stage of their Structural Integration process.

Jill is a Registered Member of the Association of Natural Medicine (RMANM) and a Professional Member of the International Association of Structural Integrators (IASI): these levels of membership are awarded to fully qualified practitioners who are currently practising, are insured and who demonstrate continuing professional development.
