Here's what some of our clients have to say about Structural Integration;
Long term injury inhibiting horse-riding ability.
Recurring sports injury.
Poor posture / chronic pain.
Growing older / low energy.
Heavy, painful menstruation.
Losing confidence in a constricted body.
Unilateral partial paralysis due to brain injury.
Back injury, sciatica and sacral nerve paraesthesia (numbness).
Long term injury inhibiting horse-riding ability.
Mrs S Newman, Scottish Borders, UK.
"Over several months, before I began Rolfing treatment, I had seen
repeated references to the system and met a Rolfing practitioner based
in the south of England. The catalyst that caused me to follow up
these "prompts" was a right bicep injury that would not heal and was
inhibiting my flexibility and effectiveness as a horse rider. But,
really, having read the descriptions on Jill's website, I hoped that
the work would also help me to have more equilibrium and grace,
physically, mentally and emotionally. I particularly hoped that I
could bring these qualities to bear with my horses. To cut a long
story short, all these hopes are in the process of being fulfilled by
the work I have undergone with Jill. I would say "have been
fulfilled", because that is how it feels; but each new session brings
a further opening or change, and I anticipate this journey being an
ongoing one. As a horse rider, Rolfing has improved my instincts, my
balance, my effectiveness and my pleasure in riding and the horse.
All of this is reflected in the rest of my life (including cooking,
which I previously hated!), and in the horses. The horses and I
always had a good emotional rapport, but this has been enhanced by the
physical possibilities that Rolfing has opened up."

Recurring sports injury.
Mr B Hayden, Dublin, Ireland.
"I took to Rolfing as a last resort for a chronic leg injury I obtained playing hockey. After matches I was a cripple and any walking was excruciating in the extreme. As a result I had to stop playing hockey for a year. GPs, physios and prescription drugs never came near to healing the origin of the pain in my lower leg. What I experienced after one session through Rolfing was akin to awe. Without even touching my lower leg, I walked out after that first session in no pain and resumed playing hockey two weeks later, some say better than ever!"

Poor posture / chronic pain.
Mr G Jack, West Lothian, Scotland.
"I turned up for Rolfing a crumbling, middle-aged man suffering from a frozen shoulder, severe chronic back pain and a dilapidated posture. Session one was fantastic. Over the following sessions my back repaired, my shoulder loosened; I grew at least an inch taller as my physique shifted. By session ten I had a new body. I (felt like I) hovered and floated along effortlessly."

Growing older / low energy.
Mrs M Power, Dublin, Ireland.
"Rolfing has been one of the most exciting, interesting and enjoyable experiences of my life. For the first time in 50 years I actually feel I belong in my body. I’m interested in being in my body and taking care of it. I feel much more flexible and aware of how my body moves. I love going for walks and have started to exercise - I always hated exercising or having to move my body at all. I walk differently, sit differently and stand differently. I seem to move with much more ease and elegance. I feel much more centred and positive. I’ve also noticed that I have much more energy.
All the sessions felt very nourishing. I know a lot of memories surfaced and I found that very useful and it was great to be able to… process them in whatever way was appropriate for me and hopefully let them go."

Heavy, painful menstruation.
Miss C Campbell, London, England.
"For years I suffered from heavy, uncomfortable periods that often lasted eight days of the month. Following the fifth session my period was remarkably light and pain-free but I thought it might have been a one off. Not so! My periods have remained light; lasting only a few days and PMT is now a rarity. I only wish I had heard about S.I. years ago."

Losing confidence in a constricted body.
Mrs S Paisley, West Lothian, Scotland.
After session 1: "The effects are great – especially on my back. I can literally feel the greater flexibility and the space in my chest."
After session 10: "Today has been a great day; it is amazing how well things can go... (smooth and problem free) if your inner state is peaceful. It just feels like I am totally comfortable with being me and because of this I can look at life differently or rather through different eyes. Maybe it’s about discovering my own strength? It is still very new and difficult to describe. It is almost a kind of trust in life that fell into place. I feel so much more confident and peaceful when interacting with people. It might sound like a cliché, but I believe the Rolfing can be a life changer."

Unilateral partial paralysis due to brain injury.
Miss I Irvine, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
"Following a brain injury, and after months of physiotherapy, I was left with a level of disability I was told could not be improved upon. However, after only two sessions of S.I. my physical capabilities are increasing daily. My balance and co-ordination have improved and I can now undertake exercise programmes previously considered impossible. I also have movement in areas of my body which were totally restricted by scar tissue. I have found a new lease of life I never thought possible."

Back injury, sciatica and sacral nerve paraesthesia (numbness).
Dr. C Riley (Chiropractor), Drogheda, Ireland.
"A chiropractor friend recommended Structural Integration or Rolfing, as it is more commonly known, as a treatment for myself. Having suffered lumbar region injuries and unilateral (right) sciatic and sacral nerve paraesthesia since an accident in childhood, I was interested in seeing if this work could be of any benefit.
Being curious as to what help this may provide patients and for my own benefit, I went through the ten Structural Integration sessions with Jill. What I found was that my chiropractic adjustments held better, my symptoms of the sciatica and paraesthesia were reduced. And something that I wasn’t looking for because I had learned to live with it, my balance returned. This was an amazing plus.
To explain Rolfing simply, it is the deepest tissue work I have ever done. Tissue imbalances that are years old, and now a problem unto their own, not just side effects of subluxations are removed. The tissue is literally untangled and order is introduced to the structure through appropriate movement and awareness education.
Since experiencing the benefits of Structural Integration, I have sent a number of my own patients to Jill. I am able to see how the Rolf work is, in my humble opinion, the best adjunct to chiropractic care I have come upon."
